Please note that optional excursions featured below are based on the 2009 tour season and are listed for guidance and budget purposes only and are subject to change without notice.

OPTIONAL SIGHTSEEING & EXCURSIONS

With Insight, you will enjoy many of Europe's famous highlights as included features on your tour - at no extra cost. However, there are an exciting array of additional excursions which are made available to help turn an already outstanding experience into a trip of a lifetime. These are entirely optional and offered to you at competitive prices. They are all bookable through your Tour Director at the commencement of your tour as many of them are planned to coincide with the best highlights available at the time of your visit.

The following list is a general selection as it would be impossible to operate all excursions on any one tour. This selection will vary due to seasonal conditions and museum opening days and times. Your Tour Director will give you a receipt once you have paid for your excursions. Payment can be made in cash or by Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please note that credit/debit card payments can only be processed in Euros however cash can be taken in most major currencies and your Tour Director will be able to give you specific details of relevant exchange rates on commencement of your tour.

HOW TO BUDGET FOR OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS:

The final list of optional excursions to be offered during your tour by your Tour Director will be based on the descriptions and pricing featured in this leaflet. To help your pre tour budgeting we suggest you allow approximately € 45 per person per day for optional excursions.

AMSTERDAM

AMS02 DUTCH BULBFIELDS

We drive from Amsterdam to visit Holland's famous bulb and flower fields.The flowers we see will vary according to the season - tulips and daffodils in the spring - & other beautiful varieties right through the summer. Entrance fee is included. € 28

AMS05 DUTCH DINNER & SAILORS QUARTER

A delicious Dutch dinner with a wide variety of choices and drinks is served in a beautiful old historic restaurant, followed by a walk through the 'Sailors Quarter' of the city. € 55

AMS06 CANAL CRUISE & SAILOR'S QUARTER

Firstly a cruise along the canal's of this 'Venice of the North' in a glass-topped boat, which is undoubtedly the best way to see this intriguing city. Stroll past the notorious 'red lights' of the Sailor's Quarter. € 18

PRAGUE

PRG02 TRADITIONAL DINNER & FOLKLORE ENTERTAINMENT

Try the Czech cuisine in a local restaurant including the famous beer! During dinner a local music group will entertain you with song and dance dressed in traditional costume € 51

PRG03 ROMANTIC PRAGUE BY NIGHT

Enjoy your introduction to Prague, firstly, an evening river cruise through the old city with drinks included and then we explore the narrow medieval streets either by miniature motorized train or minibus. € 45

Occasionally this excursion may be operated without the river cruise at. € 33

BUDAPEST

BUD04 DANUBE CRUISE WITH DINNER & DRINKS

In a private cruise down the Danube, accompanied by a local expert, you'll see Budapest at its best - a true fairy-tale city, straddling the mighty river. The Margaret's Island, the House of Parliament, Castle Hill with the Fisherman's Bastion, the Royal Palace, the Citadel and the University are all unforgettable sights. A rich buffet lunch/dinner is served on board accompanied by famous Hungarian wines. € 52

BUD05 OLD HUNGARY EXCURSION WITH LUNCH AND VISIT TO THE PARLIAMENT OR OPERA HOUSE

First we visit the elaborate Hungarian Parliament on the banks of the Danube. (When the Parliament is closed, we will visit the exquisitely decorated, 'Renaissance' Opera House). Then on to the lovely medieval town of St. Andrew's, with its ancient walls and narrow, cobbled streets. Being a centre of art and handicrafts, it has a truly unique atmosphere. First we visit the Skansen Open-air Museum, where town houses and village cottages from medieval Hungary are preserved. Then on to St. Andrew's itself to stroll around, take pictures and perhaps strike a bargain in the shops that sell beautiful Hungarian embroidery and ceramics. The visit will be completed with a typical Hungarian lunch and a glass of excellent wine.€ 65

ROM16 INTRODUCTION TO ROME

This walking tour takes you to the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona with its pavement cafes, 17th century fountains and architecture. Perhaps have your portrait painted by one of the street artists! € 31 Occasionally this tour may be operated with an included pizza dinner € 43

VIE06 DINNER IN A COUNTRY MANSION

We see the famous Prater Amusement Park, then cross the Danube to arrive at one of the most famous restaurants in Austria. Former patrons include Napoleon, the Emperor Franz Joseph, Luciano Pavarotti,Liz Taylor and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In this historic country mansion we will enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the elegant dining rooms. Choose your main dish from various Austrian specialties and enjoy the live music and unlimited drinks.€ 57

VIE14 GALA VIENNESE CONCERT

A wonderful concert of Viennese Classical music including some of the most famous works of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed by some of the most highly acclaimed soloists and dancers in Austria. A glass of champagne is also included. € 46

VIE16 NORTHERN VIENNA WOODS & GRINZING

We drive through the woods to the viewpoint at Kahlenberg Heights followed by dinner with drinks and musical entertainment in a typical 'heuriger' tavern. € 56

Explore the interior of the world's most famous opera house (or visit the Imperial Hapsburg crypt) and step back in time as we enjoy Vienna's magnificent historic district on an open-air carriage ride. € 44

VCE 02 BURANO EXCURSION & LUNCH

Explore the Venetian lagoon on our cruise around the islands including the colourful island of Burano a photographers paradise and famous for its lace. Then enjoy a superb lunch sampling the local specialities. € 65

VCE06 MAGICAL VENICE

This evening we board our private boats for a tour down the famous 'Grand Canal', past illuminated palazzi and twinkling chandeliers, to the romantic St Mark's Square. We have reservations in a famous café where we sit under the stars listening to the orchestras play some of Italy's best loved music (One drink is included). € 43

VCE08 VENICE OF THE DOGES

Our private guided tour shows us first the glistening interior of the Basilica of San Marco with its extraordinary gold mosaics. Then to the Doge's Palace, symbol of Venetian power, with its State rooms and spectacular paintings. Then through to the Bridge of Sighs for a visit to the prison from which Casanova escaped! . € 34

FL06 EXCURSION TO PISA

Through the Arno Valley, past the land of Leonardo near Empoli to ancient Pisa, where we enjoy a guided tour of the Cathedral and the famous Leaning Tower which stand in the Field of the Miracles. € 35

FL09 SAN GIMIGNANO EXCURSION

A delightful excursion to Tuscany's most famous hilltop town. San Gimignano is considered the medieval Manhattan of Italy due to its towers which dominate the skyline. There's time to enjoy the atmosphere of this unchanged ancient jewel perfectly intact since the 14th century, which is a UNESCO Heritage town. € 31

FLO14 DINNER AT LA CERTOSA

We enjoy a Tuscan dinner with wine in a private room overlooking the imposing Certosa monastery, with music provided by local artists. The menu features local specialities and there is a tasting of the famous liquors, which are produced by the monks, at the end of the meal. € 57

LCR01 LAKE LUCERNE CRUISE

The true beauty of Lake Lucerne is revealed as we cruise the tranquil waters and enjoy the stunning scenery of snow-capped mountains, green pastures and dense forests. SF 37

Tonight we shall enjoy a tasty Swiss meal (one of the courses will be the famous Swiss cheese fondue) in a typical restaurant.
